The fixture list for the new season was recently released and Hartpury RFC matches can all be found on the website here
The campaign opens with three of our first four fixtures being at home, although a ‘fast start’ is far from guaranteed as Blackheath (our opening day visitors), Plymouth Albion and Fylde all promise to provide tough opposition. Our first away fixture, in Week 3, is at Esher where we produced a disappointing display last season.
With Cinderford having slipped into League 2 at the end of 2015-16, there is no obvious local derby to look forward to, although teams such as Plymouth Albion (Sept 10th) and Coventry (January 21st) should bring big crowds, as they did last time they visited. Another fixture to look forward will be the visit of former giants Moseley (now Birmingham Moseley) who were the relegated team from the RFU Greene King IPA Championship in the last campaign.
Among the new-comers, the faces should be fairly familiar. Both Old Albanian and Macclesfield have bounced back after just one term at the lower level and we played both during the 2014-15 season (all games won). Cambridge we last played during our promotion year from National League 2, in 2013-14, winning at home with 14 men (after losing newly-capped England forward Ellis Genge to an early red card) but losing the away fixture at Volac Park.
