Former Gloucester Rugby prop forward Rupert Harden is the latest confirmed joiner ahead of the 2017-18 season.
Harden left the Cherry & Whites in 2014, since when he has been with Benetton Treviso, of Italy, in the Pro 12. He becomes the 15th new name on the RFC roster and joins another former Kingsholm man, Dan Murphy, in adding substantial experience to the front row options.
Harden spent four years at Gloucester and in 2012 received recognition for his development when he was included in the England Saxons set-up and, subsequently, was included the full international squad for their tour of South Africa later that year.
Director of Rugby, John Barnes said, “Rupert has moved back to the area to start a course at Worcester University. Mark Cornwell (Hartpury RFC Head Coach) brought him to Gloucester from Tynedale several years ago to start his career off, so that’s where the link comes from. He has the experience we are looking for to bring on our young tight heads.”
Harden started training with his new team-mates this week.
Hartpury’s pre-season fixtures start with a trip to Sixways, home of Worcester Warriors on August 12 (4pm), before we welcome Rosslyn Park to the Gillmans Ground a week later (August 19, 2.30).
