Hartpury have made a number of changes to their squad ahead of tomorrow’s challenging home fixture with current Greene King IPA Championship leaders, Cornish Pirates.
Perhaps the most eye-catching inclusion is that of centre, Steve Leonard, who appeared in just three games last season, due to injury, and was missed in the midfield. His inclusion for the first time in 2018-19, restoring his partnership with Luke Eves, means that Jamie Forrester – after two strong performances this season – will move to the bench.
Also recovered from an injury is tight-head, Rupert Harden, who was an early casualty in the opening fixture with Yorkshire Carnegie a fortnight ago.
The remaining changes to the starting fifteen are primarily rotational. Mike Flook comes in for his first game of the season at loose-head, alongside hooker Will Tanner, whose previous two outings have been off the bench.
The ever-impressive Will Safe, a former Hartpury student now on dual registration from Gloucester Rugby, starts at Number 8.
There are two further DRs on the bench as prop Joe Morris, who got his first Championship action at Doncaster Knights last week, is joined by his Worcester Warriors club colleague, James Scott, who has played for England at U18 and U20 level in recent years.
The match at Hartpury’s Gillman’s Ground will kick off at 2.30pm.
