Hartpury have made wholesale changes, many of them rotational, to the side which will travel to Newcastle on Friday (8pm) with the daunting task of taking something from what is sure to be one of the toughest fixtures of the season.
There is a completely changed set of three-quarters, in which exciting youngster Charlie Powell makes his first Hartpury start of the season alongside the experienced Luke Eves, who is returning to play against the club for whom he made numerous Premiership and European appearances between 2010 and 2012.
Nick David is back after illness ruled him out of the Knights match, while on the other wing there is a club debut for dual registered Bristol youngster, Toby Fricker.
George Simpson, Joshua Bragman and skipper Luke Carter are the only backs who remain from last week.
Having proudly made his Championship debut off the bench against Knights, tight-head Ashley Challenger goes one better by starting on Friday. He will be alongside Dan Murphy and Will Crane, who swaps shirts with Will Tanner in the middle of the front row. Crane will hoping that lightning doesn’t strike twice, after he was forced off early in the Falcons cup fixture with a nasty throat injury.
Joe Batley is another to return after missing last week and will start alongside Saturday’s try-scorer, Chunya Munga.
Will Safe moves across to Number 8, as Max Clementson returns on the open-side. At 6, John Hawkins makes his first Hartpury start of the campaign.
The bench is full of largely familiar faces, although there is a club debut for Kieran Curran, who joins on dual registration from Wasps.
