Hartpury make the short trip to Cinderford tomorrow evening as preparations for the imminent Greene King IPA Championship season continue.
Our hosts will be in good spirits, having re-established their position in National League 1 following last season’s successful campaign and the presence of a number of Hartpury connections in their squad can only add extra spice to what is, after all, a local derby.
The current and former Hartpury students in the Cinderford line up are too numerous to list here, but suffice to say that these are two teams who will each know a great deal about the other.
Hartpury, meanwhile, are able to give a start to prop Rupert Harden, who was unable play at Worcester last weekend, while flanker Mat Gilbert, similarly absent at Sixways, will play from the bench. Experience is retained in the shape of half-back combination Richard Bolt and Luke Cozens, with Luke Eves and Jamie Forrester also making back-to-back starts in the centres.
There is youth throughout the rest of the team, with a number of current and recent university students listed in the squad. Ben Foley gets a chance to show what he can do at full-back, with former Cinderford man, Mike Wilcox, also available on the bench.
Club skipper, Simon Linsell, is rested meaning that J0e Quinn will lead the starting fifteen. All of last weekend’s try-scorers – Max Clementson, Nathan Chamberlain and Ed Sheldon – are involved, while dual registered Worcester Warriors tight-head, Joe Morris, will pull on the Red & Black for the first time.
The game kicks off at 7pm.
