There was further honour for Hartpury rugby today when three former students, including sometime RFC flyer Dan Norton, were named in the GB squads to represent the country at the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Dan’s selection will have been expected by most as he has been a reliable ‘points machine’ and a fixture in the England team for a number of seasons now.
Two other former college students, Abbie Brown and Natasha Hunt, have been named in the women’s squad, where they will be joined in Brazil by Danielle Waterman, who previously managed and coached the women’s rugby programme at Hartpury.
The trio were selected after a string of strong performances for England throughout the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series and strong displays for the GB squad at the Rugby Europe Grand Prix Sevens Series over recent weeks. Another Hartpury rugby product, Megan Jones, is named as first reserve and will be on standby should a player miss out through injury.
Congratulations to all!
