Hartpury are pleased to announce that young full-back, George Simpson, will be joining on a season-long loan from Ealing Trailfinders for the 2019-20 Championship campaign.
Simpson will know plenty about Hartpury from his days as a student rugby player with Cardiff Met University, where was part of the Archers team that ran the Red & Blacks so close in the 2018 BUCS Super Rugby play-off final at Twickenham. As such, he is another good example of the talent emerging from university rugby.
Following the end of his studies, he joined Trailfinders at the start of the current season and will now benefit from spending an extended stay as part of the squad here in Gloucestershire. Previously he has had age-group involvement with Harlequins and has appeared in Premier Shield (A League) rugby for the Worcester Warriors, as well as appearing in the Singha Premiership Sevens for London Irish.
Hartpury Director of Rugby, John Barnes, said, “George, who is an exciting back three player, should be available to us for the whole of next season.”
“We’re really pleased to be able to participate in, and benefit from, the development of yet more young talent originating from student rugby and to continue to develop our good relationship with a full-time professional club such as Ealing.”
