Following last week’s decision to participate in the shortened Championship season and today’s announcement form the RFU, we can now share with you our fixture list for the competition which commences on the weekend of 6th/7th March – less than four weeks from now…
In a change from the earlier concept of two six-team conferences, all teams will now play each other once only, meaning a 10-game season for most clubs (London Scottish having elected not to participate). At the end of the season, the top two teams will go into a two-legged play-off for the right to appear in the Gallagher Premiership next season.
Hartpury will open the season at home to newly-promoted Richmond, before further home games with Doncaster Knights, Nottingham, Coventry and Jersey Reds. Our away fixtures include trips to the two Championship ‘heavyweights’, Ealing Trailfinders and Saracens, with the latter fixture being the last of the regular season.
Exact kick-off times are yet to be agreed – we will bring you full information on that when we have it. Clubs have a couple of weeks to sort out the fine detail.
With crowds being absent until further notice, there is also some discussion on-going regarding the live-streaming of fixtures. Again, we will bring you more news regarding this as soon as we have it. We would love to have the chance to see you all at the Alpas before the end of May but, as we all know, that is very much out of our hands at this time.
We will also be in contact with Patrons and Season Ticket Holders in due course.
