Centre, Steve Leonard, and flanker, Rob Langley, who have both been missing from Hartpury’s ranks – Leonard for the whole season, apart from a 20-minute cameo against Cornish Pirates in September, during which he scored a try – are both named in the starting XV that travels to the Madejski Stadium this weekend.
Their return could hardly have been better timed, as Hartpury face up to a squad full of Premiership quality.
Leonard, in particular, has had a wretched time with injury – missing virtually the whole of last season also – but Hartpury followers will remember his barn-storming performances as Hartpury worked their way through the National Leagues.
He slots into an interesting looking back-line alongside on-loan Dragons centre, Connor Edwards. Outside them will be England Under 20 flyer, Tom Seabrook, who scored against Saracens on his Premiership debut for Gloucester last season, and another returner, Ben Foley.
Luke Scully continues at outside-half but last week’s partner, Charlie Chapman, has been withdrawn by Gloucester as cover for Ben Vellacott, who requires medical treatment.
The front five which performed so well against the Pirates last week is largely unchanged, although there is a straight swap at hooker where Will Tanner trades his place on the bench with Luke Stratford.
The back row has a nice balance, with another England U-20 international, Aaron Hinkley, stepping in to add some pace on the open-side and Mat Gilbert moving across to Number 8. Tom Pashley, man of the match in the last two weeks, has collected a knock and misses out.
Lock forward, Ben Kelland, another to have missed a lot of games so far this season, makes his return on the bench.
The game is being played on Sunday and kicks off at 3.00pm.
