Hartpury largely unchanged for Bedford challenge

Hartpury have named a similar side to that which lost narrowly at Richmond last time out.

Darren Dawidiuk, who was unable to start that game due to a late injury, is still absent although regular first-choice hooker Will Tanner was able to step in at Richmond and will continue tomorrow.

The only other change in the starting line-up is on the left wing, where Ed Shelford starts with Ed Coulson moving to the bench.

Also on the bench is England U20 hooker Joe Mullis, while there is a return for long-term absentee, utility forward Joe Dancer.

DoR John Barnes was understandably frustrated that his side had given up a solid second half lead to lose in the dying moments at the RAG, but recognised the overall improvement in the display.

“The performance against Richmond was a big step up from the Pirates game,” he said.

“The disappointing part was that we lost the game due to a few minutes of madness at the end of each half.  There are very small margins in the Championship and error reduction is an area we need to improve on next season.

We now have a very tough finish with all of the top three to come, but it’s a challenge we’ll embrace.

Bedford are a good attacking team and score plenty of tries. We had a difficult game at their ground and there are areas we will be focusing on in order to shut down their offensive threat.”

Tomorrow’s game at the Gillman’s Ground kicks off at 2.30pm.
