Eves returns for Pirates clash as Hartpury stay generally settled

Former Bristol and Falcons centre, Luke Eves, makes his first start of the season for the Red & Blacks in Boxing’s Day challenging trip to the Cornish Pirates (5pm).

Previously Eves, now a part of the university rugby coaching set-up at Hartpury, has only pulled the kit on once this season – as a replacement in the opening day fixture at Ealing – but he is now needed as two Hartpury backs are forced to isolate following positive Covid tests.

He is one of only two changes to the starting line-up that was named for last week’s postponed match with leaders Ealing.  The other is in the back five of the scrum where Mitch Eadie is unavailable.  James Dun moves back to the blindside and James Scott fills the vacancy in the engine room.

On the bench, hooker Ethan Hunt is rewarded for some good performances in BUCS Super Rugby, as is Totti Benz-Salomon, who provides cover on the loose head.  Xavier Hastings also returns to the 23.
