The RFU has now released the final confirmed Green King IPA Championship table.
As previously reported, unbeaten Newcastle will be the team promoted to the Gallagher Premiership, which was clearly the correct and only viable outcome given the circumstances. At the other end of the table, Yorkshire Carnegie will go into National 1.
As we have known for some time, Newcastle’s place in the Championship will be occupied by Saracens in the 2020-21 season.
Hartpury finished 11th with 35.29 points, but with a very comfortable buffer between ourselves and the relegation spot.
The Championship table has been released ahead of the other leagues, so we have no confirmation, as yet, regarding promotion into the Championship, but it is assumed that Richmond – currently top by seven clear points – will be making a speedy return after relegation last season.
For those of you who also follow our sisters at Gloucester-Hartpury WRFC, the news is that the season has been declared as null and void. This is because the play-offs will not take place and, in any event, there are no promotion or relegation issues to be decided.
Congratulations to Newcastle Falcons!
