Despite last week’s disappointing home performance versus Cornish Pirates, the Hartpury RFC management have opted to stay with a similar group of players for this weekend’s trip to Richmond (3pm).
There are some changes however, due to unavailability and injury. One player making a timely return is fly-half James Williams, who comes straight back into the team after Jacob Perry was injured last week. Somewhat freakishly, both Williams and Perry appeared to sustain, or at least aggravate, their injuries while taking kicks at goal.
George Boulton, a try-scorer off the bench against Pirates, and Ed Coulson are drafted back in on either wing, for the unavailable pair of George Perkins and Tom Hudson.
The pack is largely unchanged, the exception being the return to the starting line-up of club captain and former Wales international, Rhys Oakley.
There is another welcome return among the replacements, as hooker Will Tanner is available after missing the last two matches.
Hartpury will be looking not only for a reaction to last week’s performance, but also to even the score after Richmond snatched a win in Gloucestershire with the last kick of the match back in November. The two clubs have shared a number of close encounters over the past few seasons.
