Hartpury name squad for Ampthill trip

Ahead of Saturday’s Greene King IPA Championship trip to Ampthill, Hartpury have selected the core of the side that picked up last week’s first win of the season against previously unbeaten Nottingham Rugby.

There is just one change behind the scrum, where live-wire Harry Cochrane steps in replace club skipper, Luke Carter, at scrum half.  Carter collected a knock in last week’s match, but is well enough to take a spot on the bench.

There is a little more movement in the pack.  Alex Gibson remains in the tight head spot, with Mike Flook backing up from the bench.  Rupert Harden remains unavailable through injury.  Will Tanner returns at hooker, after missing the Nottingham game.

The second row is unchanged, although there are changes to the breakaway trio.  Seb Nagle-Taylor continues at Number 8, while three-time World Cup player Akapusi Qera returns to the blind-side.  At 7, there is a very welcome first appearance of 2019-20 for Sam Graham, who was so impressive during Hartpury’s strong finish to last season.

Will Safe is unavailable through injury, as are longer-term absentees Iain Grieve and Tom Jubb.

The bench are all familiar faces, although Tom Everard will need to pass a Friday fitness test in order to be involved.
