We are happy to share the good news that former University 1st XV and RFC three-quarter, Jack Johnson, will be in a Worcester Warriors shirt next season. Whilst such announcements are always tinged with a certain amount of sadness at losing a young player, we are, of course, always immensely proud of those university and college old boys who go on to earn a shot in the professional game.
Jack played three years of BUCS rugby for Hartpury, the highlight coming in the 2018-19 BUCS Super Rugby play-off final at Twickenham in which Hartpury beat Leeds Beckett to clinch our third successive trophy (pictured). His final BUCS campaign was ended prematurely by the pandemic, although he was retained by Hartpury University RFC for the 2020-21 Championship season.
Director of Rugby, John Barnes, said “We wish Jack all the best in his next steps at Worcester.”
“He’s a talented player who added so much to the university team over the past few years. Unfortunately, due to injury, we didn’t see the best of him in this short RFC season. Linking up with Jonny Goodridge will be good for him at Worcester and we look forward to watching his progress.”
