Minimal changes for Hartpury ahead of Pirates trip

Hartpury have stuck, in the main, with the squad that produced a home win over Doncaster Knights last weekend as they prepare for Sunday’s Greene King IPA Championship fixture at Cornish Pirates.

The only change in the backs is injury-related. George Simpson, who has had a very good season so far, picked up a leg injury early in the Knights game, meaning that the versatile Harry Cochrane gets a run on the wing.  Simpson is expected to be available after the two-week Christmas lay-off.

Dan Koster will be returning to his former club, as he continues his centre partnership with Joe Margetts.

The pack also shows just one change, following Joe Batley’s loan move to the Leicester Tigers.  Tom Everard starts alongside Will Safe in the engine room, with Rob Fuller continuing his return to match fitness from the bench.  Tom Jubb remains side-lined with an ankle injury.

Cochrane’s place on the bench goes to centre Luke Eves, unavailable last week, and Will Tanner is restored after being absent due to the birth of his first child.  Otherwise the replacements are also unchanged.   Iain Grieve, like Fuller, is in line for his second action of the season and there is another chance for university three-quarter, Robbie Smith, to show what he can do at this level, after collecting his first RFC try last week.

Hartpury can expect to be facing at least one or two old boys on Sunday.  Alex O’Meara is a regular starter for the Pirates, while both Maliq Holden and Matt Evans have featured in recent weeks.

Sunday’s game kicks off at 2.30pm.
