Hartpury can confirm that scrum half Oscar Lennon has signed a short-term contract with Bristol Bears, effective immediately.
Lennon has started the past two RFU Championship games for ‘the RFC’, having been a replacement on number of occasions this season and, as a current undergraduate, is also eligible to play in BUCS Super Rugby.
The Bears, as we know, have a temporary shortage of cover in that position following the selection of Harry Randall into the England squad and a rash of injuries that have effected the 9 jersey. Among the players unavailable to the Bears are Toby Venner, who had been playing for our Championship team until very recently and Andy Uren, who also spent some development time at Hartpury in the 2016-17 season.
We would like to wish Oscar all the best with this opportunity which could start as soon as Bristol’s next fixture, against local rivals Bath, on Saturday. He has appeared for the Bears twice already this season in the Premiership Cup competition, getting game-time against both the Chiefs and Warriors.
Bristol have also signed Bedford full-back Rich Lane on a similar basis.
